February is National Heart Month and NGS wants to take this opportunity to remind health care professionals that Medicare beneficiaries are covered for certain cardiovascular screening blood tests. These tests are used for the early detection of cardiovascular disease or abnormalities associated with an elevated risk of heart disease and stroke.

Attention Local Security Officers: NGSConnex Now Displays IRS 1099 Forms
As the Local Security Officer for your provider organization, you can now view a copy of your organization’s 2023 IRS 1099 form electronically via NGSConnex. The electronic 1099 portal forms are a courtesy copy and aren’t replacing the hard-copy mailed forms we mail to your organization.
The 1099s are issued per tax identification number. Depending on how your provider organization is structured, the provider organization may have multiple provider accounts (NPIs, PTANs) who all use the same TIN. If so, regardless of the provider account selected, the 1099 will be the same.
A provider organization may also have multiple provider accounts (NPIs, PTANs) with a unique TIN for each account. If so, a separate 1099 will be available for each TIN.

We encourage you to watch this three minute video, as it will walk you through the entire process of obtaining a 1099 via NGSConnex.

Since you are already registered for NGSConnex as a Local Security Officer for your provider organization, just login today and go the Financials tab to obtain a 1099.
What is Medicare University?
MU is an established educational program designed to provide a broad variety of Medicare-related training to meet the needs of Medicare health care providers and suppliers. NGS offers a variety of teleconferences, webinars, CBT courses and live seminars throughout the year to provide educational sessions on Medicare-related topics including rules and regulations.
Where can someone view the educational opportunities offered by MU?
There are two types of educational opportunities offered by MU:
- CBTs, and
- Webinars and teleconferences
To learn about upcoming webinars and teleconferences, Select Events.
For a current list of CBTs offered through MU, from the Education dropdown select Medicare University.

Utilizing the NPI Registry for Contact Information
The IVR often provides the NPI for another provider or facility that may impact or is impacting the payment of your claim. The IVR does not provide the name or contact information for the other provider or facility. You can obtain the name and contact information for the provider by searching the NPI Registry.
Enter the NPI provided by the IVR for the overlapping claim in the NPI Number field, and click the Search button.
