Common Issues Handled by the Social Security Administration
The following Medicare-related issues are the responsibility of the Social Security Administration (SSA) and should be handled by your local SSA office.
- Change of address requests
- Beneficiary eligibility status for Medicare
- Effective dates of coverage for Medicare Part A, Part B, or both
- Issuing or replacing for 'free' the Medicare card
- Assignment of the health insurance claim number/Medicare number and letter suffix to the Medicare number
- Access to information for Medicare premium rates or determining premium rates
