V. Open Forum/Reminders

All

Question: Will states get the audit and reimbursement outcomes so that we can plan and have input into the education needs by state?

Answer: That information will be discussed at the MAC Collaborative Summit and is also shared with the home health and hospice POE team to utilize for educational purposes.

Question: What is the total number of attendees that can attend the Las Vegas Event?

Answer: The total number of provider registrant’s caps out at 800.

Question: How much notice do you (NGS) staff need to join or give an update at a State Association (in-person) conference? MY Association (HCA of NYS) is hosting a conference Sept 8-9 and have a meeting this week to start putting the program.

Answer: Please forward your request for consideration to Erin Musumeci and/or Shelly Dailey, it seems as though the dates are currently available for your conference.

Question: At our state conference, attendees were advised that everything in a skilled nursing chart of a hospice patient should be copied and scanned into the hospice EMR. Can you specify the components necessary to demonstrate coordination of care?

Answer: Please review all documentation from the acute and/or post-acute care facility and include the documentation that best supports the terminal prognosis.

Question: Hospices who will be prescribing a formulary medication and the beneficiary decides she/he/they want a nonformulary option, does the provider issue an Advance Beneficiary Notice that the formulary option will not be covered by Medicare Part D?

Answer: To ensure thorough research of this question, please forward this question in writing to Erin Musumeci and cc Shelly Dailey (erin.musumeci@anthem.com & shelly.dailey@anthem.com).

Question: Recommendations regarding electronic platforms for hospice election and treatment consents (such as DocuSign). The beneficiary authorized representative may request this service, especially if unable to travel to service area.

Answer: Electronic platforms are available and NGS is unable to recommend specific vendors. Please utilize your peers within the advisory group for assistance.

Members were reminded that the 2022 POE AG meeting format has changed, as the meeting is incumbent upon members bringing topics to the NGS POE team in an effort to innovate and collaborate ideas and share hot topics providers are experiencing within their communities. These topics will then be thoroughly discussed, provider education will be developed by NGS, and reviewed by the POE AG members. At that time educational material will then be posted for the entirety of the JK and J6 provider communities.

Members were also reminded to send any suggestions not shared during today’s meeting for future hospice education topics, YouTube videos, computer-based trainings, webinars and tweets to Erin Musumeci (erin.musumeci@anthem.com) and/or Jan Wood (jan.wood@anthem.com).

The next meeting will be hosted 10/18/2022 at 2:00 p.m.
