You Asked, We Listened - Introducing the Modifier Lookup Tool

We value and appreciate the feedback from our providers, which drives continuous improvement to enhance your experience. We're pleased to announce the launch of our new Modifier Lookup Tool. This tool provides information for most procedure code modifiers used by Medicare.

Simply enter the information in the required fields (Modifier, Procedure Code, Type of Service, Date of Service) then select Search.

For successful procedure code/modifier combinations, the following will display:

• Short Description
  • An abbreviated description of the modifier.
• Statistical Modifier Indicator 
  • S= Statistical
  • P= Pricing
• Effective Start Date
• Effective End Date (if applicable)
• Units 
  • Reduction percentage for the modifier/code combination.
• Payer Information
  • Determines pricing and/or what action was taken
    • N = No pricing action
    • P = Multiply by percentage
    • U = Add units to RVUs
    • S = Substitute RVU
    • D = Added dollars
    • M = Multiply RVU
    • C = Substitute RVU conditionally
• Second Modifier Indictor
  • I = Invalid in second modifier position
  • V = Valid in second modifier position
