Avoiding/Correcting This Error

Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) claims must include the primary insurance carrier’s payment information, plan details, and subscriber information. Incomplete or inaccurate entries will result in claim rejection.

• MSP details, including the insurance carrier’s contact information, are available in NGSConnex under the Beneficiary Eligibility information panel. 
• Use the Electronic Data Interchange: Medicare Secondary Payer ANSI Specifications for 837P job aid to ensure the correct data elements are included on the MSP claim.
