Prior Authorization Requests Submitted by Exempt Providers Alert
The National Government Services PA Department has observed an increase in submission of PAR for exempt providers. These submissions are from the HOPD and/or physician offices on behalf of the HOPD.
One-time notices of continuation were issued on 12/20/2021, to all exempt providers outlining the changes implemented by the CMS.
Prior Authorization Reminder
The HOPD PA program assigns responsibility to the rendering hospital OPD. Communication between the HOPD and participating physicians is essential for the success of this program. Please share exemption notifications or updates with physicians who are performing OPD services at your facility.
PARs should not be submitted for exempt providers for the purpose of obtaining a rejection letter for medical record keeping.
