National Influenza Vaccination Week is Observed 12/5/2021–12/11/2021

Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by the influenza virus and causes mild to severe illness. Millions of people get the flu every year, serious outcomes can result in hospitalization. Each office visit opens the opportunity for providers to talk to their patients about why it’s important to get a flu shot.

Medicare Part B covers one flu shot per flu season, if medically necessary, more than one per season may be covered. For Medicare billing purposes, the flu season runs from August to July of the following year.
