Psychiatric Collaborative Care Education for the Provider and Beneficiary

Did you know that the psychiatric CoCM integrates primary and behavioral health care and is considered an effective strategy in improving outcomes for beneficiaries diagnosed with behavioral health conditions? Were you aware that primary care providers and many specialists can play an important role in educating beneficiaries on psychiatric collaborative care services as a behavioral treatment option?

Psychiatric CoCM uses a team based approach with three care team members who deliver collaborative care services to the beneficiary. The care team members include; the treating or billing practitioner, the behavioral health care manager, the psychiatric consultant and the beneficiary. Psychiatric CoCM services can be provided directly from the treating provider’s office using additional billing codes.
