Understanding the Medicare Summary Notice and Options

If you get a Medicare-covered service, you’ll get an MSN in the mail every three months. The notice shows all your services that your Medicare provider of service billed to Medicare during a three-month period, what Medicare paid, and what you may owe the provider. This notice isn’t a bill.

Go Paperless! Electronic Medicare Summary Notice (eMSN)

Sign up for a monthly electronic version of the MSN for Medicare beneficiaries. Enrolling for eMSN is fast and easy. Go to https://www.mymedicare.gov and log on.

Note: Alternative Medicare Summary Notice options are available in audio, braille, or large print. Call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) for more information.

Go Paperless! Help Promote Monthly eMSN

Please include the following eMSN Overview in your communication channels and/or post one of the eMSN posters on your community bulletin board, counter, or door for Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers.
