Providers may obtain the Interns & Resident Information System (IRIS) Edit Program (IRISV3 and IRISEDV3) from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Web site.

IRISV3 is a data entry/import program used by teaching hospitals for capturing resident data. It creates an IRIS diskette/CD-ROM with two output files (master and assignment). Also provided is important information regarding installing and operating the IRISV3 program.

IRISEDV3 is a data edit program used by teaching hospitals and fiscal intermediaries. It edits the files on IRIS diskettes/CD-ROM for incomplete or inaccurate data. This program should be used by all teaching hospitals prior to filing their IRIS diskette/CD-ROM with their fiscal intermediary. It will identify any unforeseen edits that may result in rejection of the cost report filing. Also provided is important information regarding installing and operating the IRISEDV3 program.
