The National Government Services, Inc., Medicare Part B Provider Outreach and Education department is offering New Provider Basic 101 seminars throughout the states of Indiana and Kentucky in May-July 2010. This is a great learning experience for individuals who are new to the Medicare program or seasoned staff that may want a refresher course.  

Seminars cover:

  • Basic Medicare program coverage and guidelines
  • Claim filing
  • Appeals
  • Remittance Advice
  • Advance Beneficiary Notice of Noncoverage
  • And much more!

We encourage providers to register early as seating is limited.

Cost to attend is $70 per person which includes materials, refreshments, and lunch!

Have you received payment from a payer that is primary to Medicare and now you need to prepare and submit a Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) claim to Medicare?

This session will review the “Preparing MSP Claims” document available on our Web site. It will provide general instructions on how to complete the appropriate form locators (FLs) on the UB-04 (CMS-1450) claim form for submitting MSP claims following the receipt of partial or full payment from the primary payer. Examples will be reviewed.

This session will not include complete instructions on electronic (837) claim submissions; however, some related information will be provided.

These teleconferences are similar to the Open Door Forums offered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. They serve to respond to questions in a timely manner, provide methods of sharing information, and afford us the opportunity to listen to the concerns and feedback of our customers. This is your opportunity to speak directly to your Medicare Part B contractor on the topic of your choice. National Government Services will have staff available representing a wide variety of functions to answer your questions.

1:00 PM - 2:30 PM Medicare Secondary Payer: Conditional MSP Billing
Have you billed the appropriate payer that is primary to Medicare but received notification that no-payment will be made at all due to benefits exhausting, services not being covered, services being applied to the primary payer’s deductible, coinsurance, co-payment, or due to other valid reasons? Do you need to know how to request Medicare payment in these types of situations?

This session will review the “MSP Conditional Billing Process” article available on our Web site. It will provide instructions on how to complete the appropriate form locators (FLs) on the UB-04 (CMS-1450) claim form for submitting conditional claims to Medicare. Conditional claims are claims submitted to Medicare to request payment in situations in which the primary payer has not made payment for a valid reason or in accident-related situations in which the primary payer has not made payment promptly. Examples will be reviewed.
